About Samantha Persoff

Serving Patients Since 2002

I’m Samantha Persoff, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Somatic Experience Practitioner (SE) based in Los Angeles, California - here to guide you through life’s most complex and difficult matters. I truly care about my patients’ well-being and guarantee top of the line counseling and psychological services catered to their needs.

My clients inspire me.

As my client you’re ready to shed your mask, stop pretending, and let go of the quest for perfection. You want to know and embrace the messy and wonderful parts of you, and find the beauty and ‘realness’ in the imperfection.

In our work together...

  • We will find curiosity.

  • I will teach you how emotions work.

  • You will begin to understand the parts of you that up until now have been mysterious or confusing and keeping you stuck.

  • Your go-to reactions will slow down, allowing you to see you have choices.

  • You won’t feel stuck anymore.

  • You will learn to accept and act from yourself, while embracing change.

What kind of therapist are you?

I am deeply present with my clients. I want to know everything there is to know about you. I see the best in you and will help you see the same. I celebrate your bravery for engaging in this work and will stand by your side as we gently peel away the façade and find your authentic self.

About Therapy

Personalized Attention for All Your Needs

Perhaps you're down or anxious - maybe you're unsure about the future of a relationship, or just feel that you aren't living the life you were meant to lead. Whatever your needs may be, I am here to offer support. Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery, and in my sessions I promote behavioral transformation by encouraging a positive outlook and the adoption of new attitudes and reactions. I have the tools and professional experience to help you get back on track.

I have provided a number of specialized therapeutic services to those dealing with challenging life experiences. Patient well-being is my number one priority, and I go above and beyond to help them through all their obstacles. Get in touch with me today for more information.

I have come to the practice of somatic therapy on a fairly circuitous route, beginning as an artist and photographer, then an art and special education teacher. I found that what I enjoyed and was most skilled at was helping the young people in my classes with emotional development and problem solving. I then became a clinical social worker, working in day treatment. As I deepened my therapeutic skills, I felt there was something missing. I was engaging in my own practices of therapeutic dance, movement, and other somatic healings, and realized that including the body is imperative in the healing of the whole person, particularly when dealing with stress, trauma and early developmental challenges. I have trained in Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing, Touch Skills with Kathy Kain, Somatic Resilience with Kathy and Stephen Terrell, Stephen Porges’ Safe and Sound Protocol and NeuroAffective Touch with Aline LaPierre, who became my teacher and mentor.

As I work to support both the child and the growing adult inside each person regardless of age (my client’s range from 5 to 75 y.o. ), I utilize NeuroAffective Touch as well as many of the above practices, but also incorporate talk, play, art, movement and dance into whole person healing sessions.

About Therapy

Personalized Attention for All Your Needs

Before landing in full-time private practice, I worked for over a decade in mental health and addiction treatment agencies as a Counselor, Mental Health Specialist, Director of Outpatient Services, Mindfulness Educator and Specialist in stress and trauma. I co-created, directed, and served as a Primary Therapist at a successful and innovative outpatient addiction treatment program in the North Bay with a holistic approach to recovery. I’ve had the privilege of introducing Mindfulness, Energy Psychology (EFT), Somatic Experiencing and other stress management and transformation strategies to a diverse range of populations in the Bay Area.  I’m part of the teacher’s training assistant team for The Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute and the NARM and NaTouch Training Institutes, for professional therapists.

My clients have been my greatest teachers and have deepened my understanding that by tapping into the innate intelligence of the psyche, body and soul, we discover freedom from past conditioning, survival strategies, and unconscious patterns. We are wired to optimize our own potential and blueprint for well-being, but often require support and guidance to connect with this inherent capacity.

I offer an empowering, holistic option to traditional psychotherapy.

Please note, that while I have the education, training and supervision hours of a licensed therapist, including many years of clinical supervision by licensed therapists and professional counseling experience in agencies, I am not a licensed therapist by choice. This is mostly because my work includes healing modalities outside of the scope of practice of traditional psychotherapy. For example, at times, with permission, I employ the use of safe, appropriate therapeutic touch, which may include use of a massage table. I have found that the diversity of the modalities I use supports a wide spectrum of clients to benefit from my work. Both in my own healing journey and my work with others, I have experienced that we may need different doors at different times to access the treasures of the deeper self, which each of these modalities offer in their own unique way.

It is my hope to facilitate the emergence of your most authentic expression in a safe and supportive environment where the truth of who you are can be welcomed back home!
